Spectacular Coverage in Traditional Home

We've been holding out on you! Inside of the July/August issue of Traditional Home we were delighted to see three full pages of editorial on Pearson! This issue featured the 2012 Hamptons Showhouse and gave comprehensive coverage to the guest room Jennifer McConnell designed last July for the showhouse. Pearson received more coverage than any other room in the house!

This month's issue of Elle Decor has been the source of much inspiration for me. First, can we take a moment to absorb these amazing photos of a Bridgehampton, New York home designed by Timothy Haynes and Kevin Roberts? This was one of those projects that stopped me in my tracks. It exemplifies "warm modern" with those soft sofas in neutral tones. Immediately I though of Pearson, where the occasional collection really modernizes a space, allowing the upholstery to dance the traditional line and offer familiar comforts.

Consider this gilded wood & parchment leather table, for example, could easily have been the center of attention in the living room above. Clean lines, modernist roots and and a strong design statement to truly "ground" the space. For upholstery, I could easily see this slipper chair or this armchair being right at home in this space. Or this chic sofa with its fine tailoring. But nothing compares to the swagger offered by this Billy Baldwin-esque sectional that would truly be a focal point in a home like this.

Designer Katie Denham Tours Our HPMKT Showroom

We had the pleasure of meeting designer Katie Denham her at High Point last month. It was her first time visiting Market and suffice it to say she was impressed by the sheer scale of the trade event. Market is massive, and if you don't have a plan it's easy to feel overwhelmed. 

Fortunately, Jennifer McConnell (our VP of Design) and Anne Martin (PR genius for the brand) were able to give Katie a personal tour of our Hamilton-Wrenn showroom. I'ts clear from Katie's post that she has an appreciation for the magnitude of Jennifer's role at Pearson - as well as an eye for quality details. Of Jennifer she says...

..."She, herself, is responsible for all of the fabric selections, furniture designs and the design of the High Point Showroom. Thinking of it all strikes awe in to my heart. She is one lady with energy to spare!"

JLG Showhouse... Only a Few Days Left!

This year's Junior League Greensboro house has already been a smashing success. Between the all-star lineup of top designers and its overlap with High Point Market, attendance has been fantastic. We have a few snapshots taken during the launch party with Eric Cohler, Pearson's President Mike Heath and VP of Design Jennifer McConnell. Talk about an influential bunch! 

Pearson was a major sponsor of this year's Showhouse and we specifically sponsored Eric Cohler's beautiful sunroom. Eric created some incredible custom pieces using Pearson's frames and fabrics. He also selected some of our favorite occasional pieces - giving the room his infamous eclectic mix. We were very proud to work with such an esteemed creative talent. 

I continue to marvel that Eric's "look" isn't a specific look at all. He has an artful way of arranging and curating a space to make it look as though each item was chosen on its own merit and importance. 

We loved working with this celebrated designer. If you have not been to the showhouse you only have a few more days. It closes May 5th - Sunday. Make it a point to come out and spend some time touring this massive estate.

In Black & White

The undeniable appeal of crisp black & white cant be defined as a trend. We think this classic combo is always in style like a perfectly-tailored tuxedo. And who can resist the appeal of a handsome man in a tux?

High Point Market Stylespotters Heart Pearson

Market has been exhilarating this spring. The enthusiasm from customers and reps is as fresh as the spring air. If the energy and interest from this lovely crowd is any indication, the design industry is going strong.

We've been thrilled as well to have received four Style Spotter nods from several of the High Point spotters. Stacey Bewkes of Quintessence loved our green skirted stool. The fabulous, Marilyn G. Russell spied our beautifully upholstered host chair in chic neutrals. Michelle Wiebe of Studio M. flagged a pair of blue ottomans in a fresh new blue fabric as one of her top pics. And Stylebeat's Marisa Marcantonio tapped our hot new black & white table as one of her favorite Market finds.

We thank all of you who've visited us at High Point this season. Those of you not in NC this week, we can't wait for you to see the new introductions in person. They are lovely and are sure to wow your clients.

April Market Begins!!

Featured Designer: Brooke Ackerman

You didn't think you'd seen the last of our Proudly Pearson submissions did you? Of course not. One of the noteworthy submissions came from Brooke Ackerman of Brooke Ackerman Interiors in New York.

In the family room of this project she features Pearson's 2872-30 sofa (no longer available, but you can achieve a similar look with Pearson's 2327 sofa) with fabric 6518. On the 169 ottoman she uses COM Kravet fabric. The white finish on the ottoman keeps it fresh and lively. 

The result? We love the mix of fabircs, textures and forms. The pops of cranberry red throughout the room that keep the eyes moving and make this room bright and inviting.

Front & Center

Gathering around a round table is such a simple pleasure. We love the versatility of our generously sized center tables. In a large foyer you can top with books and a colorful bouquet. Maybe in a nook you flank them with chairs for easy conversation. Or perhaps these make for an idea casual dining table. Striking Pair

We are still swooning over so many of the entries to the Proudly Pearson Designer Challenge. This project from Colette Rinn Interiors of Western Springs, Illinois had us at hello. 

Colette's clients sat in our 220 chairs in the Chicago showroom and were sold on their enveloping comfort and transitional good looks. So much so that they served as inspiration for the rest of this fabulous room.  We think the space is just gorgeous, don't you? 

Sneak Preview: New Market Introductions

You've recently met our new dining chair, with her sleek cabriole legs and fully upholstered oval back. Now we'd love to show you some new occasional pieces to be introduced at April Market. 

The first is a bunching table featuring one of the biggest runway trends we have seen the last season; black and white stripes. This 9685 bunching table is actually veneered with black Agate Stone and White Waxstone, creating a depth and visual texture that painted stripes would not have. This is a great chairside table, or perfect to bunch and create patterns when used as a cocktail table. 19” d x 19” w x 19” h

The second image is of Pearson's new 9682 occasional table. This piece was inspired by paneling often found in the libraries of venerable estates. The hourglass shape, as well as the detailed panel molding give this chairside table tons of character and appeal. 21 w x 21 d x 21 h. Available in any of Pearson’s 20 occasional finishes.

The paneled table was just selected as one of the "top picks" in a recent High Point Market Authority hosted preview chat on twitter. We knew it was a winner, but it was lovely to have it recognized by style savvy interior designer Lisa Kahn. 

We don't anticipate revealing any more of our Market secrets... but I can assure you that the new product you'll be seeing is BEAUTIFUL. Pearson's in-house design team has designed some truly lovely things for you. Don't miss your chance to visit them during your trip to High Point next month! Proudly Pearson Honorable Mention: Lee Ali Interiors

Although we've named the winners, we still have a few more firms and designers who deserve mention for their exceptional entries for the 2013 Proudly Pearson Designer Challenge. Lee Ali of Lee Ali Interiors wowed our judges with her illuminated living room. This sophisticated ottoman retained such a beautiful glow from the gilded ceiling! Our 1205 loveseats and shagreen cocktail table have never looked better. Thank you, Lee, for your fabulous entry!

Proudly Pearson, Honorable Mention...

We had so many beautiful entries it made it hard to narrow down the judging to just two. Denise McGaha’s gorgeous family room was a very close runner up for 2nd place winner. We were so excited to see our favorite asian stork print 8055-95 used as window treatments, and how it tied in the fun green leather on the 119 ottoman and the 4550-92 woven ogee fabric on the 464 chairs. What a glamorous space!

Proudly Pearson Designer Challenge: 2nd Place Winner

And the 2nd place winner of the 2013 Proudly Pearson Designer Challege is... Dena N. Hamilburg of Hamilburg Interiors!

The happy bright tones of this Family room was what caught our eye of this interior. We loved that Dena was searching for a "classic yet current style." This is something that we feel that we excel at here at Pearson! The mix of the classic custom Personal Choice sofas, with the Louis the XVI 1365 and the 802 tall upholstered chair provided the perfect mix of fully upholstered, comfort and hints of timeless style.

Proudly Pearson Designer Challenge Winner Announced!

After very careful consideration, we have a winner for the 2013 Proudly Pearson Designer Challenge! Kristen Phillips, ASID certified designer and owner of Bellissimo Decor in beautiful California.

We loved the mood Kristen created with the mix of neutrals and blacks, and loved seeing Pearson's 9841 display cabinet anchoring this room. In the kitchen the jacquard fabric 4521-96 added just the extra touch of elegance to the fully upholered chairs, and in the dining room we were so excited to see how the silver leafed ceiling picked up the glamorous medallion in fabric 4512-92.

Another feature we loved were the four large lounge chairs centered around a cocktail table or ottoman. It was exciting to see how Kristen incorporated Pearson's 924 French Wing Chairs into the room lieu of the more expected sofa.

All in all, Kristen's submission stole our hearts and showed fantastic use of Pearson products. But she was not without solid competition... Dena Hamilburg of Hamilburg Interiors is our runner up! We will showcase Dena's colorful submission in a subsequent post and celebrate several incredible honorable mentions as well.

The submissions were just BEAUTIFUL and it was awe-inspiring to see how our talented professional clientele leverages their creativity in their craft. We love and appreciate all of your incredible work ad the many submissions we received for this exciting designer challenge. Skirting the Issue

This week we're loving - really loving - the classic look of skirted chairs. Soft and feminine or sleek and modern, these tailored upholstered pieces give instant polish to any room. Lonny Love...

We love Lonny. Don't you? Can we take a moment to appreciate this lovely digital mag? And while we're sad to hear that founder Michelle has moved on, we trust that this compendium of design goodness will continue to be fabulous. 

In the March issue they featured not one but two of Pearson's newest occasional pieces. These two stylish tables were introduced during Market in fall of 2012. The parchment cocktail table is beyond gorgeous. And the bunching table? Beyond amazing. We've long adored it's versatility. Both pieces were noted for their reference to European pop art.

Hello, New Jersey!

This month's Design New Jersey features quite a bit of Pearson. We loved seeing Lori Levine's "Asian suburban chic" space featuring Pearson. Lori’s beautiful house installation is on page 72-79. 

We also loved seeing our prized etagere in the issue on pg 24 in an article on the Style Trend of gold hues (of course, we're HUGE fans of this gilded trend!). As a bonus, Pearson's menswear plaid 7946-16 is featured on pg 122 in an article about a family room design by Maria K Bevill.
