Inspired Greatness

1446_head_on-copy
Seriously? This incredible chair sends me into a guest list writing frenzy. A pair of these flanking a glamorous side table. Add some great background music, a curious mix of friends and viola! A celebration worthy of royalty. Oh, wait... I suppose I should have thought about the menu fpr this event. Frankly, with furnishings like these no one will notice the lack of provisions. Just be sure to have cocktails on hand!

Lush, Verdant, Green

Green
Verdant
Leave it to seasoned designer Wanda S. Horton to pick up on this season's hottest trend. Bottle green was spotted here and there at April Market, and we offered up our fair share of it. Thank you, Wanda, for noticing our fondness for the color.

We served up plush velvet pillows, rich embroidery and even a few select pieces of art in the specific shade of green. It's only natural to pair it with gorgeous woods and a touch of blue. Wanda... we love your keen eye for detail. See you in the fall!

Pearson featured in Sky Magazine

Delta
We have to admit, we have a bit of a crush on Jason Oliver Nixon of Delta's Sky Magazine. Between his dark-rimmed glasses and nose for all things fabulius, he's got us hooked. Imagine our delight when we spied our very own showroom featured in his High Point Hi-Jinks slideshow. Here's what he had to say:

"One of my favorite brands is Pearson. Creative director Jennifer McConnell is brilliant and has one of the best sets of eyes in the business. Here’s a glorious room at the Pearson showroom that has been painted in an amped-up Benjamin Moore Raspberry Glaze, and don’t even get me started on the delicious furniture creations. Look at those chairs with the floral-and-monkey pattern. Divine!"

Awwww... Thanks, Jason. We're blushing. Or at least our raspberry room is blushing for us. And we have to agree about Jennifer. She's always one (or two!) steps ahead of the crowd. Thanks for noticing! See you this fall!

Designer Paula Grace Halewski of Paula Grace Designs has phenomenal photos from her visit to our showroom this April Market.

A Day At Market

We're loving the "day in the life" style videos being uploaded on YouTube post-market. It gives viewers at home an opportunity to see what goes on during this exciting week in the industry. This one via Tobi Fairley is a favorite. Watch as she interviews Jay Reardon of Hickory Chair and gives viewers a glimpse of what she does while she's in High Point.

High End? You Bet

Plaid
Ardent observers of the furniture industry have noticed something... brands like Pearson, Century, Hickory White and Barbara Barry haven't let a sluggish market slow us down. Instead we're digging in and focusing on fine details and additional features. We understand our niche - we aren't selling disposable goods. We offer finely crafted custom pieces intended to last for generations. Our customer is seeking more, not less. And we're delivering just that.

Here's an except from the article in Furniture Today:

While some upper-end vendors said they've run promotions and incentives to stimulate sales, most said they haven't dropped prices because that would mean altering construction details and quality.

"If you try to do something other than what you are, it just doesn't work," said Mark Gilmore, national sales manager for upholstery source C.R. Laine.

A key element this market at the high end - and across all price points - is the Made in America theme and the ability to customize, giving retailers and consumers so many ways to buy upholstery that the number of options may make their heads explode.

Not only are there selections available in hundreds of fabrics, sizes by the inch or foot, and various cushions, legs, backs and arms, but it has become common for manufacturers to offer several finishes for wood features.

We're dedicated to quality, detail and craftsmanship. It's what we do and what we've always done. But... it certainly is nice to be recognized for it.

Later on, the article referenced upholstered headboards and that saucy Mad Men-inspired plaid upholstery. These are two ongoing trends we adore, so look for future announcements tied to both. For more plaids, herringbone and other menswear inspired textiles, take a peek at our collection.

Hamilton Wrenn Design District

What we love best about Market is the sheer variety on view. Not only are the attendees from all over the globe, the vendors, booths and showrooms offer true creative inspiration. It's clear creative minds never stop to rest! The Pearson Showroom is tucked in the super chic Hamilton Wrenn Design District. We are steps away from sister brand Hickory Chair (which is a must see as well) and near perennial favorites like Baker, Halo and a smattering of incredible antique galleries. If you are seeking one of a kind pieces and a bit of sunshine, this is your spot.

Best of all, this great little area boasts less automobile traffic, fewer crowds and the added benefit of that blissful Carolina spring weather. Here's a map of the area and a closer look at the shops in our quaint district.

Insider tip: at night this is where those fun little outdoor patio gatherings and rooftop parties are held. Tomorrow we'll be serving up cocktails and hors d'œuvres in honor of our 70th anniversary. Come by and say hello!

Aaaaand.... We're Off!
